Making Time For God, Chapter 9
Knowing God is the first and foremost goal of living a Christian life.
I don't claim to be a Pastor or Preacher or any of those denominational things that leaders of religion call their positions. I am not even really trying to be a teacher because I don't really reference the text before teaching about it. I am however an overseer, and by talking about what I have learned and seen as a Christian, I am making time for God. We stop in our busy day and just direct our thoughts to the word of God. Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy...one of the Ten Commandments. I remember the Sabbath, but I think about God and what he is doing with my life and the world around me, everyday. If someone reading this is not a believer in Jesus Christ or is not a Christian, there are still many things that person can read in this message from me, that they can wonder by; things they can learn as far as what is going on spiritually in one man’s life.
We as people don't need to gather up all the religions of mankind and read the books and then decide on one of them in order to have a God we can look up to. Though I respect anyone's belief, I just want to talk about what I believe and see if anyone wants to join in, or just listen. I am also slightly aware of what other religions believe. Some believe that Jesus was a prophet and not the savior of the sins of man, or the son of God. Others believe that there are many Gods, stating them as the God of this, and the God of that. There is the belief of Yen and Zen, Buda, and more. I said in the last chapter that Grandma brought me to the Catholic Church as a small child and I did not understand what they were saying very much but there was this huge Jesus nailed to the cross and he was bleeding. Did this mean that from now on I would be a Catholic?
Religion is tradition. I don't dare denounce anyone's tradition, as they were born and raised with that. But I do not call myself a Catholic as per the tradition of the Catholics; these Catholics have their ways that they serve and worship. It is age old and God very well may see favor in this sort of worship and be glorified. I do call myself a Christian however, and it means that I believe in God almighty, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, learned of in the earliest Holy Scriptures of the Old Testament. As well I am a believer of the son of God...Jesus Christ. Rather than try and argue with other religious people that believe completely different things or Gods, I just continue to love others and focus on what does reveal itself to me. There is this positive affirmation that takes place both in reality and in my heart to the belief that I have, and I am sure in that way God can be glorified. If not then I would be sort of shot down or frustrated in my beliefs, or even guided by Satan, but that doesn't happen to me.
I get positive affirmation from above and I am 100% positive that the Holy Scriptures or the old and new testaments of the Holy Bible are the only true supernatural writings from God and are without any doubt his actual word. It is also our instructions to our life in the flesh and how to overcome the ways of the carnal earth.
I didn't one day just choose to not be Catholic as how I was brought up, but I did stray to the left and to the right from Church and God, I just quit going to Church. It kind of happened when it seemed that no one else wanted to either, so we just forgot about Sunday Church and went through the rest of our childhood without going to Church. As kids, one day we were playing around the neighborhood street when a couple of Church going Christians walked up showing us their brochures and asked us if they could say a prayer that would save us. I knew Jesus already at this point but I said sure, and the two men said a prayer to God to accept us and forgive us for our sins through Jesus Christ, that we might be accepted in Heaven. Then the two guys walked away. Time passed and we got older and we still never went to Church on Sunday.
I went on to get involved into music and soon after into rock music owning a guitar and amp and forming a band and it consumed me and my free time. Now I could go on and write chapters of this up bringing from here but I won’t, the point is that I have always had a special place in my heart and life for what I was exposed to in Church as a very young child, but I had no religion. One day later in life as I was going through many ups and downs, I read the Holy Bible out loud but sort of under my breath, word for word, each and every word that was printed in that Bible I tongued. I didn't exactly retain everything it taught me but I read it all, and I marked on the calendar, not sure what month it was, but in 1994 I wrote "The New Beginning" I had not become a Catholic but a born again Christian. I have been accepting Christian teaching and sermons from then on and most of all allowing the Holy Spirit in my heart to guide me, keep me safe and lead me.
Ever since this new beginning I have felt closer to knowing God and in that I have been not just one of God's soldiers but a Christian. See, being a Christian means that the Holy Spirit is with you. It also means that you were born again, which is an expression that means you had a huge moment when you urged and cried out longing for answers and just admitted you need something other than the way you have been living and seeing life and death. It means your inner self made up its mind and asked for the Holiness of whatever this life is about. You asked into the air for answers and confronted yourself to be good from now on and then the Holy Spirit came to you. That part you still don’t know about but you claim your new beginning in the person you are from now on…That is being born again. It has happened to just tons and tons of people and it is a very recognizable and substantial thing that happens to people. The Bible says that in order to get into Heaven you must be born again. First you were born in the flesh as a newborn baby, but if you live past an age where you can comprehend Good and Evil then you must be born of a new person. You must be born again. So stop what you are doing and go have a new beginning if you haven’t already!
